GMC DB D'Mario Gunn Signs with GSU

Signed, sealed and delivered!

Just confirmed that his LOI is likely headed to our compliance folks but GMC Coach Bert Williams confirmed that former Georgia Military College Defensive Back Demario Gunn signed with us today.

He would have 3 years to play 2 and would give us another veteran body in our defensive backfield.  From what I've been told, he would count towards the 2010 class and that we should have approx. 5.5 grants-in-aid (using CBC's preferred phrase) left for 2011.

More details as they are available.

  1. Not sure how big of a get this is. Looks like he didn't even play last year at GMC. 6 total tackles on the year in 7 games played. I love him because he is a Panther, but this seems like a move to just try to build depth. Not sure he will challenge McClendon, Ransby, Hughes, or Matthews. I loved our secondary all year, just need to work on their hands.

Regardless, welcome to the Panthers Demario!!!

  2. This is a huge get. Still some paperwork to be finished from what I understand but if he had the grades he would have had offers from nearly every SEC and ACC schools.

Remember that stats in JUCO are misleading because coaches often rotate guys to showcase everyone (think AAU for high school basketball). These are often poorly reported.

In 2009 at GMC, he had 25 tackles, 2 INTs and 4 PBU. Again, that's in 10 games and limited snaps.

He is a dynamic talent and I'm thrilled to have him.

  4. Believe me, there are plenty of rumors and schedule stuff that's out there but not public at this point. Should be another 3 weeks or so before the schedule release.
