The Good: As I thought we would (and said as much in my preview and prediction) we stood up and matched the #4 FCS Team in the Country blow for blow. Two huge defensive stands lead to JSU field goals and Drew Little did exactly what he needed to earn another start on Saturday afternoon at Campbell. Oh by the way, this game was on TV and nearly 100 recruits were on hand. Good effort in front of a Southeastern audience.
The Bad: We just couldn't stop this team. They were 6 for 6 in the Red Zone and we had no sacks and no turnovers. That doesn't work. Coach Thompson had his hands full preparing for 2 QBs in Blanchard and Ivory. I look forward to the D getting back to blitzing and continuing to stop the run.
The Ugly: Not much here except for the officials calls in OT. Both the Ivory run (which Dave said on the air that he never saw a body part or the ball break the plane of the goaline) and the Williams dropped pass (which replays don't clearly show that he had posession of the ball) were enough to get this crew suspended for a game. It should not have come down to this. Brandon Jones had a tipped pass in his grasp and had reservations for 6. That would have been the game and the Dome would have gone insane. Alas, we lose in OT.
On to beautiful Buies Creek, NC to face the Camels! Sleep well Panther Nation.

I was sitting high up on the end zone. Our reception - from what I saw our guy did not have possession as he stepped out of bounds. On Ivory not getting over - I could not see him go over either. It looked like he was moved along the line a foot or so outside. I was surprised when the touchdown was put on the board. The officials were CAA so...
ReplyDeleteYeah, it should have not come down to that. We played well enough to win and that's all you can ask for. Come out with the same effort and focus against Campbell and you win easily.
