Next week the Gamecocks will go to Atlanta to play Bill Curry’s 1-0 Georgia State team. The Panthers will probably sell a few more tickets to that game thanks to Jacksonville State’s upset of Ole Miss.
“I saw they had 30,000 for their first game. That’s incredible,” said Crowe. “Playing Curry will be a dogfight over there. Anything can happen on the road in this sport.”

Ben,
ReplyDeleteDidn't agree with your comment on the ajc article about the attendance. Here's a little inside info for you... it's sorority rush week. They have plans all day saturday and aren't going to be at the game. And the buzz on campus is nothing compared to last week. If we don't fill the student section, there is no way they reach 20,000.
Also, how many people were just there because its the first game? I think low to mid teens is what we should expect, and i think thats what we'll get for every home game except for the last one and Jax st.
That's okay. I realize it is soriority recruitment as my wife is the Phi Mu advisor for the Georgia State chapter (Theta Beta chapter). I realize more than most that the soriorities will not likely be there unless a major change happens in the next 24 hours.
ReplyDeleteThere will be many students who did not attend Thursday who will be back.
If we get low to mid teens or more I'm thrilled. The main thing is we continue to win. Don't underestimate the strength of the military personnel that will be there. The ticket office has made a major push for active duty and retired military to be in the Dome. They are giving away 1,000 commerative hats on Saturday and we'll have plenty there.
Greeks are do not account for most of 11,000 people. I think more than a few students will not have much else to do at 1 p.m. on Saturday. We will get way more than low teens. Morehouse gets 8000 on average without blinking. No way our attendance drops by 60&/We will do great.
