GSU vs. Texas Southern Update

Ok folks, we are less than 24 hours away from first pitch on the 2011 season so I'll go ahead and give you what I have.

Projected Rotation for TSU Series:
Friday - Justin Malone, RH (4-1, 5.81 ERA, .97K/IP, .42BB/IP in 2010)
Saturday - Nick Squeglia, RH (3-3, 5.40 ERA, .99K/IP, .93BB/IP in 2010)
Sunday - Will Campbell, RH (1-1, 8.62 ERA, 1.13K/IP, .29BB/IP in 2010)

Our likely weekend rotation appears to be Francis, Olson and Squeglia so we'll see a different set on the mound for this series.

Projected Defensive Lineup:
C - Shane Hammond / Carter Sackett *See Notes
1B - Brandon Williams
2B - Daniel Blaustein / Bryan Condotta *See Notes
3B - Rob Lind *See Notes
SS - Bryan Condotta / Daniel Blaustein * See Notes
LF - Mark Micowski
CF - Brett Maxwell

RF - Ryan Fleming

Notes:

Hammond and Sackett are likely to share the starting role at catcher throughout the season. Not sure which one will get the nod on which day but we should see both of them throughout this series.

2B, 3B and SS are an unknown right now. Rob Lind was our 2nd baseman last season but with Logan's departure 3rd needs to be filled and Lind seems the likely candidate for now. SS will typically be played by Justin Malone but he's scheduled to start Friday. This probably leaves Condotta and Blaustein as your middle infielders at least on Friday. Saturday and Sunday I would guess we see Malone, Condotta and Blaustein at those positions and I won't be shocked to see Aaron Schmitz and newcomer Drew Shields get in the mix. This will work itself out early in the season as the hot bats show themselves. It's also worth noting that the new guys may shake up some of these positions after the coaches see them play in real games.

Because this is the first series and we should have comfortable leads, we will likely see most everyone get involved in the action at some point.

GO PANTHERS!!!
